An industry-leading company in upscale restaurants and cafes is seeking a Director of Purchasing for its rapidly growing multi-state operation. Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Purchasing will work closely with culinary and operations leaders as well as outside vendors to coordinate food & beverage sourcing, manage inventory levels, and lead efforts to minimize the cost of products, supplies, and services. Additionally, the Director of Purchasing will oversee major purchases associated with opening restaurants and commissary facilities, responding to a range of inquiries regarding processes or bid status, negotiating terms and conditions with vendors and/or service providers, and achieving department objectives and goals within budget. This role will supervise and develop an existing team, develop sourcing plans and budgets, and streamline cost and quality assurance processes.
-The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 5 years of recent experience leading a Purchasing department within the foodservice industry.
-Multi-unit experience required, and multi-state experience preferred with restaurant groups, hotels, air-travel foodservice, and contract food service management.
-Recent experience with annual purchasing spends of $25M as a minimum.
-Strong knowledge of vendor sourcing, inventory administration, purchasing and receiving systems.
-Bachelor’s degree, strong negotiation skills, knowledge of forecasting techniques, detail-oriented, with strong analytic skills and an innovative approach to problem-solving.
-Must enjoy and be able to succeed in a collaborative environment.
-Excellent communication and leadership skills.
-Must be proficient in using Microsoft: Word, Excel, Outlook, purchasing software.
